Introduction to Watercolour ( at Shelburne Regional High ) - Full

6 weeks Oct 2nd - Nov 6th every Tuesday 6pm to 8:30pm (8 spaces avalibale, all taken at the moment, I think)

A slower paced and complete introduction of the medium that covers basic techniques, colour mixings, different styles of paintings, good understand of materials and compostitions.

Each week we focus on a theme starting with a simple still life painting and florals, and move on to more complexed sea and landscapes. Every class begins with a demonstration and if time allows ends with a group critique.


Half day workshops

Pen & Ink Drawing ( Lio's Studio)

2 sessions Oct 21th & 28th Sunday 1pm-4pm Fee:$ 40

A popular medium that requires some drawing skill. Covers Inking techniques for both loose approach which is great

for journal taking and tight approach for detailed protrayal. Some drawing tips will be given if needed. We will start

out with a still life drawing and the second day a desired theme.



Coloured Pencil (Lio's Studio)

2 sessions Nov 11th & 18th Sunday 1pm-4pm Fee:$40

A medium that starts to get noticed. Similar to pastel but without the mess and cost. Great for portraying florals,still life, animals and portraits. We will cover the basic colour layering, textured drawings and a good understanding of the different materials resulting different outcomes. First day with a still life or floral drawing and an option of animal or portrait on the second session.




Drop-in Workshops ( Lio's Studio)

October 14th Sunday 1pm-4pm, Oct 29th Monday 10am -1pm, Nov 4th Sunday 1pm-4pm, Nov 12th Monday 10am-1pm Fee:$25 per session

For those who just want to polished up the skills either on drawing or painting. Or for someone like to work on their own pace and desired theme without going through the basic again. Maybe you have some unfinished works in the closet that you would like to finish but don't know how and where to start? Each participants gets personal one-on-one attentions on the project at hand.

One day workshops

Watercolour-Still life painting

Oct13th Saturday 10 am-3:30pm

A great theme to start with for less experienced painters. With a focus on painting simple round objects like fruits and mugs that does not involve too much technical manoeuvering. We also cover an easy approach painting backgrounds and table clothes. In the afternoon, we tackle another still life painting with a wine glass or vase in the composition.


Watercolour-Seascape

Oct 27th Saturday 10 am-3:30 pm Fee : $35

Requires all the technical elements in watercolours due to the diverse nature in seascapes. We will focus on painting small paintings of skies and waters in the morning for an easier start. Examine different aspect of weathers and different techniques to paint them. In the afternoon, we will add more elements to another painting that consist of surfs, rocks, tall grass or sand beaches. Domonstrations will be provided for the understanding to each element and a painting progess showing from start to finish. Biginners and intermediates welcome.

Due to the limited studio space only 5 seats avalible.



Watercolour- Boats and Harbour scenes

Nov 10th saturday 10 am-3:30pm Fee: $35

Prefer participants who have taken the '" Seascape workshops" as the complex nature of the theme more technical knowledge will be required. Most of the demonstrations will be done in the morning as we will need uninterrupted long hours to complete a bigger and complex painting. We will tackle the elements of fish shacks, boats, harbours, reflections and so on.


Introduction to Chinese Brush Painting

Nov 24th Saturday 10 am-3:30pm Fee: $40 all supplies included

An unique form of art that is so different from westen approach. Use entirely with brush strokes, the art form focus on the beauty of spontneity and expressiveness rather than detailed portraying. . " Floral and Birds" ( a collective term in Chinese painting that includes the theme of florals, gardens, wildlife, and natural world as oppose to " water and Mountain ( land and seascapes)" " Animals" " portraits" and so on) is a great start for a beginner to familarized the basic brush strokes, the special brushes, rice papers and inks that are requires for the medium.
